The
Shelter Team leader is a collaborative supporter, and a member of the Operations team with the objective to support the mission of the Nicola Valley Shelter and Support Society (NVSSS) and the clients served.
The team leader will
- provide training, supervision and direction to the shelter support workers while establishing and maintaining an environment for staff and clients that is consistent with agency values.
- Assist the case manager in the development and implementation of client's case plans up to and including exit planning
Team leaders are able to
- deal with a wide variety of staff and clients in a non-judgmental and compassionate manner

Duties/Responsibilities
- Provide consistent coverage for assigned shifts, working within the team and independently to complete all shift tasks.
- Supervise support staff, ensuring that all shift tasks are completed satisfactorily.
- Staff development. Identify areas for improvement and provide mentoring, training and support to staff as needed, Help support staff to determine their goals and assist them to reach them
- Monitor staff performance and report any concerns to management
- Maintain communication with and provide assistance to the case manager as required
- Assist clients to identify and reach their goals
- Review client progress, keep accurate and complete case notes.
- Client exit planning, ensuring all services are in place to promote success
- Monitor and supervise shelter and client affairs, assist clients of the shelter with needs and questions
- Receive new clients, complete intake paperwork, and provide orientations to new clients.
- Perform general administrative functions such as noting within the communication logs, answering the phone and responding to inperson inquires in a professional manner. Provide appropriate information and referrals for those who need other resources.
- Connect clients with case manager and other service providers identified in clients service plan.
- Monitor the activities of clients to ensure the safety of clients and staff.
- Help clients resolve any issues as they may arise.
- Provide crisis intervention as needed, including determining when it is necessary to involve other staff, administration or the authorities.
- Maintain written and oral communication of incidents in accordance with polices.
- Complete work time sheets biweekly
- Participate in any staff meetings, training or other activities as directed by management.
- Follow all public health policies and directives
- Other duties as may be assigned by Board or management.

$25.00-$27.00 per hour
