Home to over 40,000 students from 156 countries and 15,000 faculty and staff with over 300,000 alumni worldwide, the University of Alberta (U of A) is a top-five Canadian university and most recently in the top 100 globally based on the Shanghai academic rankings of world universities.

The U of A is a leading teaching and research institution with a long history of excellence.

Under the leadership of the University's 14th President and Vice Chancellor, Bill Flanagan, the University of Alberta continues to move forward with signature distinction as one of the world's most respected public universities.

At its foundation lie talented people - students, faculty, and staff - who with their creativity, ingenuity and drive, join in advancing human knowledge and pursuing scientific discovery for the benefit of all.

The University seeks to foster an inclusive culture in which people excel through exchange and collaboration, enriched by the diversity of individuals, groups, disciplines, perspectives, approaches, and questions that characterize its community.

The University of Alberta has embarked on a period of major transformation, building on its long history of leadership in the province and in Canada's post-secondary sector.

With fundamental systemic reform, we set a bold new direction for the university of tomorrow.

The university's new operating model consists of a hybrid of centralized and decentralized services which promotes consistency, avoids duplication, and supports a one-university approach and service culture.

Core to the model is the establishment of the university's three new colleges:

the _College of Health Sciences_, the _College of Natural and Applied Sciences_, and the _College of Social Sciences and Humanities_.

The colleges leverage excellence within all departments and faculties to improve both academic and administrative performance as One University.

The College of Social Sciences and Humanities brings together the combined strength of all 4 major faculties, enabling a new level of interdisciplinary research and teaching that advances the full spectrum of academic knowledge in individuals and communities around the world.

The college includes 4 faculties (_Alberta School of Business_ _,_ _Arts_,_ _Education_, and_ _Law_)_, more than 510 faculty members, and more than 15,000 undergraduate and graduate students.

The Alberta School of Business is home to nearly 70 faculty members and over 50 doctoral students who continually advance the understanding of important issues facing business.

Many of the faculty members are world-renowned for their expertise, and the younger faculty and doctoral students are in the forefront of creating improved explanations for business phenomena.

The faculty brings a zest for scholarly discovery for stakeholders, especially students in the classroom and managers of all types of organizations, inspiring them to improve existing practices and explore innovative new practices.

The School fosters and encourages excellence in research and has a high degree of success publishing in highly regarded journals including the Financial Times Top 50 Journals.
