Occupational Health Advisor

Reporting to the Manager, Employee Relations and Occupational Health, you will be responsible for the management and administration of the occupational health portfolio, which includes employee leaves, disability management, return to work and proactive care initiatives.

Working as part of a small but dedicated team, you will lead and support workplace safety and early return to work, accommodation, and attendance management initiatives, as well as the coordination of ongoing disability files.

Essential to your success will be the ability to develop programs and initiatives to support a safe and suitable care pathway, allowing and encouraging employees to stay-at-work or return-to-work in a timely manner.


Day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the disability management program including functional abilities to work process, modified duties and workplace accommodations
  • Acting as a first point of contact in People & Culture to address workplace accommodation and ability management related questions and concerns from employees and managers
  • Managing employee sick leaves like WorkSafeBC Claims, shortterm disability, longterm disability and other work leaves
  • Ensuring a smooth transition to STD and LTD according to E-Comm program and guidelines, managing changes to eligibility and duration of benefits.
  • Responsibility for the case management of WorkSafeBC files, their progression, and subsequent coordination of return to work and accommodations
  • Compiling and analyzing information for further assessment on claims (sick, LTD, or WCB), including arranging referrals, independent medicals and functional capacity exams etc.
  • Making claim adjudication decisions based on case management analysis; consulting with thirdparty disability providers as required

What you'll need:


  • Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Health Sciences, Labour or Industrial Relations or other relevant education related to Disability Management, vocational rehabilitation and/or wellness.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in disability case management and workplace accommodation.
  • Certified Disability Management Professional, Certified Return to Work Coordinator, Registered Rehab Professional or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience
  • Experience working in a union environment is an asset.
  • Results driven mindset with a desire to work in a fastpaced environment, whilst delivering on multiple, concurrent initiatives
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of disability, claims management and wellness principles
  • A customer service mindset, with a commitment to professionalism and excellence
  • General understanding of group benefit plans and administrative processes relating to case management
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to build long lasting relationships based on trust, integrity and accountability

As a condition of employment at E-Comm, the required Police Security Clearance applicable to the position must be acquired and maintained.

This is a process carried out by our law enforcement partner agencies, facilitated by E-Comm.

The minimum residency in Canada to qualify for this position, as established by our law enforcement partner agencies, is roughly 3 to 5 years.

E-Comm offers a competitive salary between $75,303.71 and $88,594.58, together with an excellent benefits package. This position is based in Vancouver with the opportunity for hybrid working arrangements.

As an integral part of BC's emergency services, E-Comm has a Covid-19 vaccination policy in effect with requirements for all current and future employees_.
