    We are actively recruiting a Water/Waste Water Engineer for a leading Engineering Consulting firm in our client's Edmonton division.


    Responsibilities

    • Assist in mentoring junior staff with day-to-day activities, answering questions and providing best practice guidance
    • Assist junior engineers with workflow and prioritization of tasks so that timelines and deliverables are met, and projects are completed within the budget
    • Understands, follows, and promotes the company's quality management plan
    • Understands and utilizes company templates for document production
    • Document work flow and design decisions clearly for professional engineer and/or QA review
    • Completes double-checks of own work and oversee the work of technical staff
    • Conduct engineering site visits / field reviews, to review if construction work generally conforms to the project drawings and specifications
    • Assist with the commissioning of water/wastewater infrastructure
    • Establish report/study outlines that meet the project deliverable requirements
    • Collect background data on water/wastewater infrastructure and community requirements
    • Collect and analyze data specific to project scope
    • Analyze data on water/wastewater infrastructure
    • Assess existing water/wastewater infrastructure
    • Develop options to address project objectives
    • Estimate costs for options to address project objectives
    • Present project findings to clients
    • Compile and edit written work from others into a single coherent document
    • Oversee the work of technical staff when applicable to projects/assignments
    • Design of water supply, treatment and distribution infrastructure, such as raw water supply systems, water treatment plants, pump stations, and truck fill stations
    • Design of wastewater pumping and treatment infrastructure, such as wastewater lift stations, wastewater treatment facilities
    • Process engineering design to size/select individual components that support overall infrastructure design, such as piping systems, chemical feed systems, and process-specific treatment systems
    • Coordinate with drafting team to develop detailed design drawings
    • Coordinate multi-discipline teams and sub-consultants
    • Develop engineering drawings and engineering details
    • Develop front-end contract specifications for procurement
    • Develop technical specifications
    • Oversee the work of technical staff when applicable to projects/assignments
    • Review, understand and interpret construction Contract Documents, Drawings, and Specifications
    • Assist project managers/engineers with the bid/tender process for construction projects
    • Assist with construction management activities, such as reviewing budgets, schedules, shop drawings, request for information enquiries, contractor progress claims, material performance test reports, etc.

    Qualifications

    • Must hold a valid Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Engineering. Degrees in Civil, Civil-Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering are preferred.
    • Minimum 5 years' experience in consulting engineering, specifically in water/wastewater engineering area of practice. Candidates with less experience may be considered subject to specific experience and skillsets.
    • Experience in consulting engineering, specifically in water and wastewater areas of practice.
    • Must be in good standing with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
    • Possess a valid Class 5 driver's license.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills.
