Your opportunity:
Working as part of a collaborative team, the Student Services Assistant provides friendly, knowledgeable, and timely service.
Together with the team in the Registrar's Office, the Student Services Assistant provides front-line support and creates a welcoming environment for a diverse group of prospective and current students.
As a member of the New College Registrar's Office, the Student Services Assistant will be committed to an equity that recognizes, supports, and responds to the diverse histories, lived and marginalized experiences of students and many communities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate
- Scheduling appointments for prospective students, applicants, and current students to address individual needs
- Providing detailed information on program and/or course eligibility requirements, procedures, policies and deadlines
- Providing detailed information on processes, policies, and procedures
- Reviewing and assessing student records to determine academic standing and informing students of changes
- Providing detailed information regarding financial aid issues
- Disseminating program materials to prospective students and applicants
- Troubleshooting and resolving routine issues
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum two (2) years' of recent and related experience providing frontline registrarial student services support to a diverse student population in a postsecondary environment.
- Experience providing academic program information and working with prospective and undergraduate students.
- Experience reviewing requests and screening students for academic advising or shortterm counselling appointments.
- Experience maintaining, identifying, and resolving anomalies with student records.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams), ROSI/ACORN, and Degree Explorer
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent ability to prioritize and adapt to ongoing changes in priorities.
- Demonstrated strong student service orientation and experience fostering equity, diversity and inclusion in a postsecondary environment.
Assets (Nonessential):
- Knowledge of New College.
- Knowledge and experience with policies and procedures at the Faculty of Arts and Science.
- Experience and ability to analyze administrative processes and procedures and passionate about making recommendations to improve services for students.
