Reporting directly to the Manager, Business Attraction & Investment, the Economic Development Officer, Physician Recruitment & Retention is responsible for the development and implementation of a Physician Recruitment and Retention Strategy for the Town of Caledon, to address the critical need for current and future health care for the community.
This individual will provide comprehensive business support services to physicians, healthcare professionals and other partner organizations considering the Town of Caledon as a potential place of business.
The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, a functional understanding of the Ontario healthcare system, and the ability to influence and build strong relationships with partners and stakeholders across a spectrum of interests.
The role ensures the attraction and placement of highly qualified medical professionals in family practice settings providing Caledon's current and future residents with quality health care.
The Officer will provide support for the creation and implementation of Caledon's Physician Recruitment Strategy.As the Officer, Physician Recruitment & Retention, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
Functional Responsibilities
Support the development of an integrated, community-led talent attraction strategy to identify current physician gaps and develop a value proposition for Caledon to address current and future care needs: making Caledon a premier destination for medical practice and family life.
Support the development of a grants and incentives program, for the Town to promote shared investment in patient rostering and medical office improvements.
Assist in the onboarding process for new physicians, including community visits, to ensure a smooth transition into their new roles and successful integration into the Town of Caledon community.
Research, analyze and report on physician and health services activity and trends to inform service delivery and update key performance indicators (KPIs)Maintain a database of physicians and health care professionals.
Prepare briefing materials, quarterly, and annual reports to Leadership and Council
Research and develop alternate revenue generating and/or funding opportunities relative to projects and initiatives.
Promote and represent Town of Caledon local, regional, national and international events and meetings, including local committees, and in collaboration with regional, provincial, and federal partners.
Perform additional duties and undertake special projects as assignedThe Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an experienced professional a post-secondary education in Health Administration, Public Relations, Human Resources, or a related field.
Our ideal candidate has a minimum of three (3) years' experience in health sector engagement, physician recruitment or community development.
Professional designation from the Economic Developers Association of Canada (Ec.D.), considered an asset.
Previous experience coordinating recruitment of healthcare professionals and/or working with family medicine education programs and/or directly with physicians, or at least a working knowledge of a physician's career cycle and Ontario College of Family Physicians registration requirements is an asset.
We are seeking an individual with technical knowledge of Ontario's health system, including College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO licensing and Family Health Organization (FHO) funding models.
The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal, written communication, as well as public speaking skills with the ability to handle significant contacts with long-term impacts.
The successful candidate for Officer, Physician Recruitment & Retention will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).
Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
