Status:
Part-time (12pm-4pm; 5 days a week)
Location:
Hagersville, Ontario
Job Scope:
Reporting to the Quality Control Supervisor, the QC Lab Technician is responsible for covering all aspects of the Quality Control operation.
Key Accountabilities:
- Prepare samples, media and buffers used for daily analysis.
- Perform chemical and microbiological testing of dairy products
- Generate test results with a high level of accuracy and reliability.
- Conduct product sampling and environmental/equipment swabbing.
- Produce reports and computer data entry of various information for the purpose of maintaining accurate records.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments.
- Clean and maintain cleanliness within the lab
- Work closely with production staff in the areas of sanitation, hygiene, GMP's and related necessary training.
- Monitor and maintain the Quality, Food Safety and SQF Systems.
- Complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Management.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in the food industry preferred
- Bachelor of Science Degree or postsecondary Diploma in Microbiology, Food Science or Chemistry
- Knowledge of microbiological procedures and aseptic techniques
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMP's, allergens, and food security.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal/written communication and problemsolving skills
- Proficient computer abilities using Word & Excel
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Own transportation and ability to work weekends
