As Vitacore rapidly expands into new product lines and markets, we are looking for talented individuals to join our team to help create a larger impact in healthcare, recycling and more.

About the Role:

Vitacore Industries is looking for a keen cell biology post-secondary student who wants to work with an award-winning, globally recognized R&D team comprised of scientists, PhDs, and engineers.

This student will have an appetite and aptitude for all things cell biology and wants to gain real-life lab experience.

The term length is approximately 4 months (May 1, 2024 to the end of August, 2024) and will require in-person laboratory attendance.

Responsibilities include:

Conduct advanced 3D cell culture experiments within the developed vascular network models, focusing on cell viability and function.
Develop and refine new techniques for passaging cells in 3D cultures, enhancing cell survival and growth.
Assess the biocompatibility of 3D printed structures, ensuring they support cell proliferation and differentiation.
Investigate cellular migration dynamics within the vascular networks, providing insights into cellnetwork interactions.
Collaborate with the biochemistry team to understand the impact of resin properties on cell behavior.
Design and conduct experiments to study the effects of network topology on cellular behavior and tissue formation.
Develop protocols for introducing cells into the vascularized structures, optimizing for uniformity and efficiency.
Monitor and analyze cell behavior in response to different environmental conditions within the 3D structures.
Contribute to the optimization of macroporosity in the printed structures to facilitate cell permeation and nutrient exchange.
Document experimental procedures, results, and analyses, contributing to scientific publications and project reports.
Engage in interdisciplinary discussions to integrate cell biology insights into the overall project development.
Participate in team meetings and provide expert advice on cell biology aspects of the project.

Skills and Qualifications:

Postsecondary student currently in cell biology or related field.
Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status; at this time, international students with either a student or work visa are not eligible.
Be willing to work inperson at the Burnaby laboratory.
