We offer several designated marshalling points within BC including Nanaimo, Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops, Williams Lake, Prince George, Smithers, and Calgary, AB.

Role Purpose

  • Responsible for consistently delivering best practice contract and procurement deliverables to meet the needs of the project schedule including compliance with Red Chris' Impact, Benefit, and Co-Management Agreement ("IBCA") obligations, Delegation of Authority and procurement plans, policies, procedures across the Red Chris Block Cave Project whilst supporting a proactive safety management culture. Also accountable for conducting all business activities in adherence to Newcrest's Code of Conduct, Modern slavery, Anti-Bribery, Corruption and Fraud prevention policies, procedures and strategies.


We are seeking an individual for an opportunity working Monday through Friday at the Vancouver office with travel to the Red Chris site as necessary.


Accountabilities:

  • Technical_
Demonstrates technical and conceptual excellence in anticipating problems and supports the team and plans, to deliver agreed departmental and business goals to ensure the value of the business is maintained or improved:

  • Develops and recommends contract strategies and contract plans to the project team, ensuring contract strategies consider appropriate legal, commercial, technical (schedule and cost) and execution approach to scope packaging, bidding, awarding, managing, and closing of contracts
  • Leads the team for tenders including planning, preparing and managing the documents and processes, analyzes and evaluates commercial proposals
  • Leads the team to negotiate commercial and legal terms
  • Liaises with technical, health, safety and environment (HSE), legal and other relevant stakeholders in reviewing proposals to mitigate risk exposures
  • Endorses and supports recommendations to award approvals based on key deliverables including safety, operational continuity, cost reduction and compliance
  • Develops monthly contract management key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive accountability and recognise achievement
  • Identifies supplier consolidation opportunities of contracts across the Block Cave Project (i.e., consolidate civil works)

  • Demonstrates a commitment to effectively and efficiently utilizing Block Cave Project resources in meeting the objectives of the Project, identifying process improvements and seeking areas for growth, while ensuring general alignment with Newcrest's strategy and standards:
  • Collaborates with project contract owners to maximize and protect free cash flow value to Newcrest
  • Assists the Project team to administer agreements (postaward), including evaluating premobilization deliverables, negotiating/resolving disputes, negotiating changes, and closing contracts
  • Proactively provides guidance to the project team regarding contract management options and considerations throughout all stages of the contract lifecycle
  • References legal and commercial terms and relies on those terms to manage contractors and advise the project team on the use of these terms
  • Advises contract owners on compliance to Newcrest / Red Chris policies (training and audit process)
  • Ensures effective change management to ensure contract modifications are properly documented and approved according to the Newcrest Project Management System (the Gold Book)
  • Proactively resolves issues that arise between contractors and project teams in a professional manner
