We are currently seeking an experienced
Health & Safety Coordinator to administer, lead, and enforce, all safety-related aspects of company-wide policies and procedures.
This position is critical in nature. Only qualified individuals with the required skills will be considered._
The Health & Safety Coordinator will be responsible for identifying and developing new company-wide policies and procedures, in addition to the implementation, maintenance, and enforcement of the current onsite Health & Safety program.
Experience in a food manufacturing or production plant is considered an asset, but we are willing to train the right individual.
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated ability to educate, lead, and conduct department toolbox meetings, supervisor and new hire training, safety committee meets.
- Demonstrated ability to work in high stress or fast paced working environment.
- Experience in first response, incident investigation, critical thinking, problem solving, and conflict resolution is key.
- Strong interpersonal and communication ability.
- Familiar with all Microsoft based programs and computer use.
- Comprehensive knowledge of OHS (Occupational Health & Safety) Act, Provincial and Federal regulation, policies, codes, and practices.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in WCB liaison (claims management processing)
- Minimum 3 years' experience in COR audit and all requirements therein.
- Minimum 5 years in Safety related profession.
- Preference given to experience within food production or manufacturing industry.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent with focus on Occupational Health & Safety Designation
- CRST or CRSP certification is preferred
- COR Auditor Designation
- Standard First Aid Certification
- WHMIS Train the Trainer
- Class 5 driver's license
- Forklift Certification is considered an asset.
Core Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and conduct COR audit of the facility, production areas, and equipment. Carry out audit requirements and mandate implementation to ensure all items have been rectified (where applicable).
- Maintain COR certificate through annual audits (Alberta Food Processors Association)
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining the company Hazard Assessment and Control Program.
- Conduct regular department inspections and enforce a strong safety presence throughout the plant.
- Update and maintain company's Health & Safety SOP and manuals.
- Ensure SDS information is current, up to date, and readily available to all departments.
- Create and conduct morning toolbox talks and maintain daily meeting logs and employee sign off.
- Respond to and complete all near miss, incident, and injury investigations.
- Manage all employee and thirdparty relations within WCB program (claims management, modified work program).
- Participate in new hire orientations. Conduct safety training, department tours.
- Responsible for ensuring the company's safety program meets or exceeds all legislated standards and compliance requirements.
