As
VCIB Credit Manager your role will be to provide expert guidance, advice and adjudication to Lenders enabling the execution of complex Commercial Real Estate, Impact and Renewable Energy loans.


Within this role you will identify, design and implement innovative lending solutions, risk standards and adjudication criteria that enable emerging markets and new opportunities, as well as participate in the development of strategic initiatives and provide technical advice as related to the credit function, enabling compliant, informed and integrated plans.


This position offers a unique opportunity to have a positive social and environmental impact, exemplified by our Waste Heat Recovery Project and a Six Nations wind farm refinancing project in Ontario.

This is a
Full Time, 12 months' work assignment opportunity that reports to Vancity Director of Credit.


This competitively rewarded role will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from your GTA (Great Toronto Area) based home office or other approved location, or from the VCIB Toronto office if you prefer.

Periodically, in-person events or activities will be required of you.


Consideration may be given to filling the position in Vancouver with an option to work remotely from your GVRD (Greater Vancouver Regional District) based home office and from the Vancity Vancouver head office.


A typical day would involve:

Review and adjudicate VCIB real estate and clean energy loans implementing and being guided by VCIB's Lending Policy and Operating Lending Guidelines

  • Implementing uniform business credit risk underwriting practices in order to optimize the quality of the Social Purpose Real Estate, Impact Lending and Renewable Energy portfolio.
  • Providing the VCIB CRO with recommendations for changes to Lending Policy and insights into the Credit Risk portfolio
  • Partner with key stakeholders to maintain endtoend credit processes, trends and underwriting insights that support the development of scalable solutions
  • Collaborate with lenders to identify emerging industry trends, risks and highpotential
opportunities, enabling the business to achieve its objective in creating impact

  • Providing the Vancity Director of Credit with recommendations for changes to Lending Policy and insights into the Credit Risk portfolio
  • Providing support in conversations with OSFI and Internal Audit reviews

An Investigator & Problem Solver:

  • You have a natural curiosity and analytical eye to review information, detect anomalies, and investigate and resolve discrepancies. Able to solve problems and make decisions based on a specific set of standards and guidelines, escalating issues to senior staff as required.

You Have:


  • Minimum ten (10) years of lending with advanced knowledge and expertise in business lending, credit risk and retail lending and business acumen in the context of the financial industry
  • A related postsecondary degree from a recognized university, or equivalent

You Also Have:


  • Communication and interpersonal skills to create clear understanding of expectations and address challenges and issues for the business unit; and represent the unit across the organization.
  • People leadership skills to engage with supervisors/team leads, professionals and/ or other staff and carry out all people practices.
  • Problem solving and decisionmaking skills to diagnose challenges and issues and develop innovative business solutions; and to assess risks and opportunities that may affect the unit and or designated unit
  • Knowledge of the concepts, practices and techniques of the related field
  • Planning and coordination skills to execute on operating plans, processes, methods and standards for a unit and to coordinate delivery of programs and services.
  • Research and analytical skills to assess and recommend course of action on industry, political and economic trends, and to identify risks and opportunities that may impact the business
unit and or designated area.


Pay Range:91,000.00
to 136,400.00**
