Summary
The Traffic Coordinators' primary responsibility is to set up and coordinate traffic control in construction work zones.

The Traffic Coordinator will also be responsible for implementing appropriate Traffic Management Plans and ensuring the worksite is functioning properly while supervising, coordinating, and providing guidance to Flag Persons.

The position requires varied, long, and flexible hours which will include some weekends, working in all types of weather, and some on-call requirements to meet the demands of the construction season.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work Zone setups, inspections and maintenance
  • Supervising Flag Persons
  • Traffic management planning
  • Coordinating work activities with other contractors on site
  • Flag Person duties, as needed
  • Safety talks with crews (Tool Box Talks)
  • Resolving problems and implementing improvements
  • Ensure work is being carried out accurately on the job site
  • Enforce company policies, practices, and procedures onsite with staff
  • Maintaining detailed and accurate site reports
  • Assist in training employees onsite
  • Communicating site updates and progress to management
  • Raising safety concerns at the appropriate level

Job Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Traffic Coordinator and/or Flagger an asset
  • Valid Flagger training and certification (provided upon hire)
  • Possess a valid class 5 driver's license and means of transportation to and from the job site
  • Operate pilot vehicles
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate with professionalism, patience, and courtesy to a diversified workplace
  • Ability to multitask effectively and efficiently in a fast pace environment and stressful situations
  • Physically able to repetitively lift 50 lbs on a regular basis
  • Punctual and able to work full time, overtime, and occasional weekends
  • Working in inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to construction materials
  • At time, willing to work out of town or in a remote location, if needed
