Clinical Associate, Equine Field Service:
Primary Purpose:
To provide clinical service to clients of the Equine Ambulatory Service at the Veterinary Medical Centre, Western College of Veterinary Medicine and to teach, supervise and mentor senior students in the DVM program during Equine Practice rotations in their fourth year.
Nature of Work:
General ambulatory Equine Veterinary practice.
Typical Duties or Accountabilities:
The Equine Field Service Clinical Associate will be a full-time member of the Field Service Group within the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences, Western College of Veterinary Medicine.
Duties will include:
- Provision of clinical service (including after hours) to clients of the equine ambulatory practice of the Veterinary Medical Centre (VMC).
- Participation in clinical teaching during the equine practice and summer equine rotations in VINT 580, and the supervision and mentoring of students on those rotations
- Participation in the supervision and mentoring of equine field service interns and residents.
- Additional teaching duties as assigned (mainly assisting with laboratory teaching when needed).
- Assisting with the reproduction caseload.
Accountabilities will include:
- Maintaining and growing caseload in the Equine Ambulatory Service at the VMC
Licenses:
Saskatchewan Veterinary Medical Association
Experience:
Applicant must have completed a residency approved by the American College of Theriogenologists and have experience in equine ambulatory veterinary practice, preferably at an academic institution.
