NATURE OF THE WORK


Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Cybersecurity and Infrastructure, the IT Infrastructure/Security Manager plans, organizes and directs the day-to-day Infrastructure and IT security operations of the Lester B.

Pearson School Board; manages, maintains and oversees needs analysis and system enhancements for all infrastructure and information security systems and is responsible for all aspects of data network and communications infrastructure.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Hold a diploma of college studies in a relevant field of study.
  • Minimum of six years of relevant experience.
  • Working experience with the following:
  • VMware Vsphere Administration
  • Microsoft 365 Administration
  • AD/LDAP
  • Identity Management Administration
  • Firewall configuration and reporting
  • Supporting online learning technologies both on premise and in the cloud.
  • Network Engineering
  • Remote Application Delivery and virtual desktop platform administration.
  • Team oriented, with demonstrated mentoring skills and the ability to transfer knowledge of technical details and experience.
  • Selfsufficient; ability to perceive, analyze and identify solutions.
  • Demonstrated desire to achieve objectives in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong oral, written communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to work well within a team, especially in a leadership role and demonstrated ability to work well in a diverse team environment.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment, while meeting deadlines and dealing with changing priorities.
  • Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours for special projects, system outages or maintenance.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:


This job class exercises responsibility for the integrity, security, reliability and availability of all internal and external network and communication systems as well as all core in-house and cloud-based systems.

This job class requires specialized knowledge in the areas of telecommunications, server hardware, security, cloud and locally hosted solutions as well as voice, video, and data networks.


This includes, and is not limited to:

  • Responsible in conjunction with the assistant director, for the entire life cycle of technology solutions acquired including budgetary expense planning, product demonstrations, comparative analysis, RFP/RFI requirements/criteria/scoring, cost benefit analysis, annual ongoing maintenance agreements/contracts for daily operation, future expense planning for replacement/refresh, and the final retirement of and/or secure disposal of anything in active production
  • Oversee, guide and supervise staff assigned to work on infrastructure and security operations and provide technical assistance
  • Architect on premise solution designs to support systems being implemented, configure cloudbased resources, install the compute as well as storage hardware, document projects, and train/mentor IT tier 2 support teams on new systems when required.
  • Design, Install and administer the school board's physical and virtual server farms
  • Infrastructure management, systems documentation, disaster recovery planning
  • Responsible for local implementation of technical security controls, along with monitoring and responding to security alerts
  • Project lead for relevant technology initiatives
  • Develop and coordinate hybrid Cloud strategy and define the transition to and adoption of secure cloud services
  • Recommend tactical and strategic initiatives to eliminate or mitigate risks. Actively monitor and assess new and emerging threats posing risk to cloud computing environments
  • Possess and maintain a firm understanding of the offerings of but not limited to both Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Implement security solutions to support the government and school board cybersecurity vision and strategy
  • Document process, workflows, and tool implementations via technical documents
  • Configure and maintain security controls and provide standard operating procedures and improved metrics and operational support
  • Manage security of school board's infrastructure from unauthorized intrusion by either physical, or by remote electronic means
  • Assist with automating Security Policies, Standards and monitoring tools
  • Install and maintain the school board's storage area networks.
  • Perform complex tasks on critical infrastructure upgrades, security projects and infrastructure enhancements
  • Administer and support Microsoft Office 365 platform including but not limited to exchange online, Azure AD and SharePoint online
