JOB DESCRIPTION


The Drafter is responsible for organizing, standardizing and maintaining the company drawing library as well as developing drawings for the production team.

This requires the individual to have a strong foundation of drafting knowledge, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to safety.


WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Create drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, calculations, specification sheets and other data, as well as making any necessary changes.
  • Prepare documentation packages and sets.
  • Develop and maintain standard drafting procedures that align with company QC program.
  • Identify that drawings meet specific dimensions, materials and procedures outlined while correcting any deviations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with sales to finalize product features, production to incorporate new drawings, and quality to track ongoing improvements to drawings and processes.

WHAT DO I NEED TO SUCCEED?

  • Diploma or certificate in drafting such as NAIT Engineering Design & Drafting Technology, or equivalent.
  • 25 years of relevant drafting experience in the production industry.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Proficiency in Solidworks and Fusion 360 software.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Effective communication, including writing, speaking and interpersonal communication
  • Good organization and time management skills
  • Quick problemsolving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Attention to detail and analytical thinker
  • Good collaboration and teamwork abilities
  • Capacity to offer suggestions on process improvement
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment
