What you will do:


Reporting to the Director, Annual & Leadership Giving, the Manager, Student Scholarships and Bursaries will be responsible for the management and success of Humber College's robust scholarship program for all donated and faculty-funded student scholarships, bursaries, and awards.

The Manager, Student Scholarships and Bursaries will supervise the Student Awards Officer, who will assist in the overall administration of this program.

The successful implementation of this program helps support other areas of the college including student enrollment, retention, student pathways, and ultimately overall student success.


Scholarship Program Administration and Maintenance & Scholarship Selection

  • Manage the Student Awards Officer and support their day to day work as needed.
  • Manage timelines for all three yearly scholarship cycles
  • Manage the overall scholarship and emergency bursary processes
  • Review and approve finalists as determined by the Student Awards Officer before being sent over to the faculties for final selection.
  • Manage the disbursement of all scholarships, awards and emergency bursaries that fall under Advancement and Alumni.
  • Manage the scholarships gift agreement and check list process to ensure that documentation is filled out correctly, that criteria is built according to internal processes, etc.
  • Manage the internal A&A review process; lead and train the team on reviewing to ensure that selected students meet the criteria
  • Working with the Student Awards Officer, ensure selection process is being handled accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Working alongside Project Manager Systems, manage and review training documentation, and help conduct training when needed for the online scholarship. program, Blackbaud Awards Management (BBAM).
  • Collaborate with the Accessible Learning Services and Student Success and Engagement teams on documentation required for specific scholarships
  • Manage process for external review committees, as appropriate
  • Develop and implement new policies and procedures, i.e., Scholarship Policy.
  • Keep abreast of the latest trends with scholarship management. Conduct research and connect with other colleges and universities regarding their scholarship management programs to help inform enhancements, etc.

Donor Management, Relationship Building and Stewardship

  • Establish and manage certain scholarships under the major gift threshold
  • Manage the scholarship renewal processes
  • Connect with donors as necessary to discuss any potential issues; i.e., their expendable funds have depleted, their endowments are not generating enough revenue to disburse scholarships at current established thresholds, etc.
  • Work alongside Associate Director, Stewardship on scholarship stewardship strategies, i.e., scholarship stewardship packages.
  • Work alongside the SAO, Events, on strategies relating to scholarship celebrations.
  • Work alongside the SAO, Research & Prospect to help prepare donor briefings as needed and to learn more about historic donors in order to strategize on reactivation and engagement strategies

Scholarship Program Communication and Promotion

  • Working alongside the Manager, Communications ensure student scholarships website is updated, dynamic and userfriendly; enhance and improve website using videos, social media, etc., while ensuring content aligns with all A&A webpages.
  • Manage the promotion of the scholarship program and brainstorm new and creative ways to market and reach promote financial aid opportunities to students throughout the year, I.e., targeted messages to students each year, attending student sessions, Orientation, workshops, lunch and learns, classroom visits, etc.
