Position Description:
Temporary assignment - approximately 14 weeks
:
The Quality and Performance Associate is a master's level internship within the Quality Department.
A learning-focused position, the intern is expected to become an integral part of the team, and, as such, have the freedom to create his or her own projects in areas of special interest, have direct access to the Executive Team, and quickly become fluent in all levels of the health care system.
We are looking for a self-motivated team player with an interest and/or experience in quality improvement and clinical planning who can balance priorities, function in a fluid multidisciplinary environment, and take advantage of what a large teaching centre has to offer.
The successful applicant will be provided with ongoing mentorship from the quality team, with the intention that we will be developing a future healthcare leader.
Please note that due to the nature of this position only students enrolled in a relevant master's program will be considered.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Enrollment in a Masters levelprogram program related healthcare operations, such as business, public health, nursing, clinical practice, engineering or related field is required.
- Interest in learning about quality improvement, patient safety, hospital planning and process improvement.
- Minimum 14 week commitment is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in multiple quality and process improvement projects across the organization.
- Provide project management support for corporate and program initiatives.
- Assist in the development of business proposals and/or clinical programs.
- Research best practice models of care delivery that achieve better health, better experience and better value for the patient and family.
- Demonstrate proficient writing skills through RFI/RFP and publication writing.
- Participate in designing processes for clinical and administrative areas to maximize 'value add'.
- Design, implement and analyze valid and reliable surveys for organizational planning.
- Measure performance methodologically using statistical frameworks, such as control charts.
- Engage directly with patients and families through corporate patient engagement initiatives.
- Present achievements of the work term to the Quality Department team and senior management.
