Sunday-Thursday, 3pm to 11pm


Must have a class 5 (Non-GDL) Drivers license

Job Summary:


Working as part of a collaborative team, the Recovery Coach will work make housing referrals as well as implement recovery focused activities, small groups and work with clients from a strength-based recovery focus.


Responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement programming that fosters daily living skills and encourages positive community involvement with a focus on recovery
  • Complete referrals to community programs and events, treatment and housing
  • Accompany clients to legal, medical, housing and treatment appointments, using an agency vehicle as needed
  • Manage client crises and create safety plans
  • Maintain client files, case notes, daily stats and other documentation as needed
  • Role model Alpha House's value's and be a positive ambassador when interacting with the public, partners and businesses
  • Providing educational presentations to clients on topics related to health, addictions and homelessness
  • Participation and attendance at regular team meetings and in program evaluation as needed
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures and ability to reference them from appropriate sources
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (MSDS, OH&S, WHMIS etc.)
  • Provide support to all programs, including assisting in maintaining cleanliness of the building

Qualifications:


  • At minimum a 2year diploma in a social science discipline (ideally Social Work or Addictions) from a public post secondary educational institution, or working towards one
  • 2+ years' experience in case work, ideally with addicts and other vulnerable populations
  • Preference will be given to those with experience and knowledge in indigenous culture, programs and services
  • An understanding of addictions including: withdrawal management, harm reduction, stages of change, trauma informedcare, crisis management, crisis counseling, recovery orientated systems of care and impact of mental health issues.
  • Excellent oral & written English communication and prepare and facilitate presentations
  • Highly organized and a self starter who is able to work independently and take initiative
  • Ability to build strong rapport with clients; as well as develop professional relationships with communities and service providers;
  • Proven crisis management, problem solving skills, rapportbuilding and advocacy skills
  • Strong knowledge of community resources and social services programs
  • Ability to be culturally sensitive with a diverse population
  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
  • Have ethically responsible practices with staff and clients alike including a thorough understanding and appreciation of the Protection of Persons in Care Act

Position Requirements:


  • Proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license (non GDL) and a reliable vehicle
  • Comfortable driving an agency Van
  • FOIP Certification
  • Be able to physically assist clients from prone to sitting or standing, and vice versa
  • Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Search, valid within the last six months, that does not contain any results material to the position
- "It's your Move" training, or equivalent Patient Lift training
