About The Role


The_ _Operations Finance Controller reports directly to the Operations Finance Director, and operationally to the Vice President of Ontario Operations, and will be responsible for leading all aspects of accounting and financial support across a portfolio of projects for the Ontario team.

The Operations Finance Controller is responsible for leading a team of accountants and clerks, while implementing and maintaining project accounting processes in accordance with company policies and procedures, to ensure clear, accurate, consistent and relevant project and business unit financial information and analysis.

The Operations Finance Controller will also act as a business partner and key contributor with the senior leaders of business unit(s) and a representative of the finance function.


  • As an Operations Finance Controller at Graham you will:_
  • Report to the Location Business Unit Leader (Operationally) and to the Director Operations Finance (Functionally) and are a key member of both the Operations and Finance Leadership teams
  • Act as a trusted business partner to Operations providing contestability into the numbers and partnering with operations for budgets, forecasts, and quarterly reviews
  • Be accountable for the delivery of clear, accurate, consistent, relevant financial reporting and analysis which supports informed decision making
  • Be accountable for managing all aspects of accounting and financial support for the business units supported, delivered through leading a team of Operations Finance Professionals.
  • Support the business units in cash and working capital management, driving DSO, cash collection and management of key project related balance sheet accounts
  • Carry responsibility for governance and compliance and the development and implementation of efficient and effective processes and controls in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Establish, maintain and leverage collaborative, mutually beneficial and responsive relationships within the operations they support (VP's) and Corporate Services teams
  • Lead accounting and operations teams through the completion of internal, external financial and some external client audits, while maintaining strong working relationships with all parties involved
  • Be responsible for external client interactions (subtrades, owners), building relationships and displaying awareness, tact and diplomacy as required
  • Qualifications/Experience:_
  • Degree in Commerce/Business/Accounting or a related field is required
  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) is required.

  • 5+ years' experience in managing finance teams.
  • Experience in Construction, Engineering, Infrastructure and/or Water experience would be an asset.
  • Advanced job costing knowledge
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and system controls, SAP preferred.
  • Recognizing the necessity of adhering to deadlines
