great opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Assistant to join our team

Who are we?

Brocklehurst Gemstone Care Centre is a comfortable & secure seniors' long term care home to 130 Seniors, situated on 4 acres of lawns and gardens overlooking the Thompson River in Kamloops.

We love our homelike feel that is beautiful and filled with natural light and cozy surroundings.

Key Position Duties:

Under the day-to-day direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Assistant performs a variety of maintenance duties related to buildings, grounds and equipment such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry and painting.

Adaptable and able to shift priorities quickly and effectively;
You are productive, ambitious and you have a strong desire to learn and expand your skills;
You have good interpersonal skills and you are able to effectively interact with the various individuals involved in providing support services in a Residentfocused environment;
You are professional, both in manner and appearance;
You are in good health and are physically able to perform the duties required;
You are an effective communicator, both written and oral;
You have a keen eye for quality and detail;
You are interested in contributing to a team with an enviable work culture.

Ideally you have the following education and skills:

Patching and painting experience
A minimum of 3 years experience in building maintenance
Experience using computer programs
WHMIS certification
Familiar with WorkSafe regulations
Grade 12 level of High School
Experience working in long term care an asset
