Heavy Equipment Technician


Weldco-Beales Manufacturing designs and manufactures specialized heavy equipment attachments for the construction, forestry, mining, scrap recycling, road maintenance and resource industries throughout Canada, the USA and internationally.

Weldco prides itself on providing a great employee experience where safety is a way of life. Weldco-Beales is currently recruiting a Heavy Equipment technician for the Edmonton manufacturing team on the day shift. This position will report to the General Foreman.

What you will do:


  • Interpret work orders and technical manuals
  • Check heavy equipment, mobile cranes, and other heavy construction, logging and mining equipment for proper performance and to detect faults and malfunctions
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment
  • Service and assemble attachments and working tools such as blades, ploughs, tire manipulators, grapples, etc.
  • Perform repair work on heavy trucks if necessary
  • Attach components
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair existing hydraulic systems
  • Assemble, install, and commission new hydraulic systems
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical systems

Your qualifications:


  • Alberta Journeyman Ticket in Heavy Duty Mechanic
  • Directly related experience in a manufacturing facility or with heavy attachments is an asset

What you bring to the position:

  • Previous experience with heavy equipment is an asset
  • Previous experience with mobile cranes is an asset
  • Good knowledge of all heavy equipment and power tools and their use and care
  • Analytical skills to identify simple problems and find a solution
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Physically fit to perform work
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong safety performance
