The role:


As Vice President, Enterprise Analytics and Data, you will play a leading role in bringing our Meridian For Good strategy to life by leading the development and execution of analytics and data strategy for Canada's second largest credit union.

Reporting to the Chief Digital and Marketing Officer, you will oversee the use, governance, and value of data across the organization, including acting as the Data Governance Committee chair.

You will be responsible for creating and implementing data strategies, ensuring data quality and security, and leading data analytics and business intelligence functions at the enterprise level.

You will oversee data-related policies, partnerships, and investments.


Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

Strategy and Planning

  • Lead the development and execution of a centralized data and analytics strategy for Meridian, including data governance, data architecture, data science, and modelling, working with executive leadership, business lines, and functional teams.
  • Actively consult and provide expertise to the Meridian's senior leadership on best practices in data, analytics, business intelligence, and datadriven decision making.
  • Provide data and analytics services to departments across Meridian, ensuring alignment with business goals and Meridian's Purpose.
  • Proactively contribute to the development of priorities and strategic plans across the organization, with focus on Meridian's data and analytics capabilities, to unlock value for Meridian and Members. Develop and manage strategic roadmaps for data, analytics, and governance, working in collaboration with stakeholders across the organization. As it pertains to analytics, decision science and modelling, lead the development and implementation of AI and machine learning strategies, including oversight and governance of ethical AI practices.

Leadership

  • Promote a culture of learning and innovation through hypothesis generation, testing, and Agile experimentation
  • Identify the skills, capabilities, and capacity necessary to meet Meridian's analytics needs over the long term, and develop and scale the team.
  • Cultivate collaboration and communication among data stakeholders, developing a Data and Analytics Centre of Excellence to align analytics teams across the business.

Data Quality and Governance

  • Establish and implement data governance frameworks, standards and best practices, including overseeing data quality initiatives and master data management.
  • Lead the design and development of data platforms, architectures and systems towards a "data as a product" future state.
  • Lead the Data Governance Committee and be the senior leader responsible for data governance reporting to Management and the Board of Directors.

Technology

  • Working with IT and other stakeholders, define the technology and technical capabilities required to protect Meridian's data and the data of its Members while unlocking value and delivering opportunity for the business.
  • Provide thought leadership and implementation expertise on use of advance analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

Analytics

  • Lead all aspects of the enterprise analytics function to demonstrate the value and impact of data to Meridian and its Members.
  • Provide data insights and recommendations to support decision making and performance improvement to the executive leadership team and CDMO functional teams.
  • Expand modelling capabilities, capacity, and roadmap to support a transformation towards proactive personalization and segment and individual level omnichannel communications.
  • Lead data analytics and business intelligence functions at the enterprise level.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Advanced degree with a focus on Data Management or Data Analytics disciplines
  • Demonstrated ability in leading and managing data and analytics initiatives and functions, including 10+ years in a senior leadership capacity leading and developing data and analytics teams.
  • Knowledge of data management principles, practices, and technologies, such as data governance, data quality, data security, data analytics, data platforms, and data architectures.
