SUMMARY:

The Royal Canadian Yacht Club is one of Canada's premier sailing and sport Clubs.

The RCYC operates year-round from two facilities: our summer home at the Island Clubhouse nestled in the Toronto Islands and our City Clubhouse in downtown Toronto at St.

George and Bloor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


Currently looking for 1st
, 2nd
and 3rd
cooks for seasonal employment from April to October, both Part-time & Full-time available.
The Cook is responsible for preparing high quality food in a fast-paced Kitchen for an exclusive private Club.

This individual ensures that their workstation is clean and organized and assists with other areas of the kitchen as requested by kitchen management.


SKILLS / JOB DUTIES:


  • Prepare and cook menu items to order ensuring food quality and safety
  • Sets up stations according to Kitchen guidelines, and maintains a safe, clean, organized, fridges, station and pantry
  • Limit waste and ensure that FIFO is maintained in all areas.
  • Maintain current knowledge of food ingredients and food preparation in order to provide Members with accurate dietary information.
  • Ensure that any anticipated shortages are communicated promptly to kitchen management.
  • Work as a team member to complete a la carte and banquet orders
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Sous-Chefs, Chef and Management

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:


  • 1st, 2nd & 3 skill levels sought
  • Postsecondary education or 2 years of line cook work experience in a fine dining restaurant
  • Food Safety Certification
  • Red Seal Certification an asset
  • Strong knife skills
  • Perform well under pressure
  • Work productively in a strong team atmosphere
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

HOURS OF WORK:


  • We have seasonal fulltime (up to 44 hrs/week) and parttime positions (available for at least 2 shifts per week)
  • Must be able to work weekdays/nights, weekends and public holidays as well as various shifts.
  • Able to work at both the City Club
  • 141 St George St, and the Island Facility Launch at 150 Cherry St
