Pay Grade - The annual salary range is $68,385 $109,584 (at 100% appointment) and is based on qualifications, experience, and the placement criteria of Article 14 of the NICFA Collective agreement.
Position Summary - Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Practice Placement Coordinator is a noninstructional faculty member accountable for the planning, coordination and evaluation of practice placements for Faculty of HHS programs in keeping with the North Island Colleges' (NIC) vision, goals, and objectives.
- In particular, the Faculty of HHS Practice Placement Coordinator works with Health and Human Services programs, other educational institution and practice agencies to establish and maximize placement capacity in a way that meets curriculum goals, program needs, student needs, and community needs. The Coordinator's position works closely with the Faculty of HHS Divisional Practice Placement Technical Support position.

Duties & Responsibilities
- 1. INTERNAL PLACEMENT COORDINATION AND FACULTY LIAISON
- b. Reviews placement schedules between programs to resolve placement overlaps wherever possible;
- c. Provides placement and agency information to faculty upon request to support specific placement planning for courses and programs;
- d. In collaboration with program Department Chairs/faculty, ensures consistency and quality of placement requests within and across programs;
- e. Stays abreast of changes in practice agencies as it relates to placement opportunities for the Faculty;
- f. Submits data-entry ready placement grids for each program practice placement course to the Faculty of HHS Practice Placement Technical Support position within established timelines;
- g. Addresses any conflicts or declined placements as soon as identified in an appropriate and timely manner in collaboration with program faculty, placement agencies, and other post-secondary institutions and updates grids, faculty and staff;
- h. In collaboration with Department Chairs/faculty, ensures due diligence to protect the College from legal liability and monitors practice requirements and issues that arise to ensure that safety standards are consistently practiced;
- i. Coordinates and/or attends faculty meetings as necessary to address practice placement issues;
- j. Applies knowledge of Inter/Intra professional practice in advocating for and negotiating placement opportunities with placement agencies;
- k. Collaborates with program Department Chairs/faculty to ensure efficiency of practice placements within and across programs and communities of the North Island.
- 2. EXTERNAL PLACEMENT LIAISON
- b. Ongoing consultation with program Department Chairs/faculty in planning and implementing practice placements that are congruent with curriculum and identified student learning needs;
- c. Maintains relationships with in region and out of region placement coordinators to ensure quality placement for NIC students;
- d. Initiates, finalizes, and maintains affiliation agreements with all placement agencies and health authorities;
- e. Explores and develops new learning and placement opportunities appropriate to Faculty programs;
- f.
Initiates and maintains effective relationships with health professionals in practice agencies:
hospitals (acute and complex care), government and non-government community agencies;
- g. Uses conflict management approaches and problem solving strategies when conflicts and challenges arise with practice placements and practice agencies;
