The Role:


The Vice President of Operations (VPO) is the senior leader in the Region and the successful incumbent must be knowledgeable of all facets of operating multiple Carquest Auto Parts stores and be committed to inspiring our team, helping our customers succeed, and growing the commercial and DIY business and profitability with integrity.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the VP, CQ Operations continuously improve operational procedures/processes, share best practices, and create new, innovative ways to meet strategic objectives
  • Partner with the CQ Operating Committee including Finance, IT, Merchandising, Asset Protection, HR, etc., to set and execute the company's key strategies in the Region
  • Develop annual plans and maintain at least a oneyear outlook on sales growth, budgets and forecasts, business trends, new store site selection and openings, and bench strength
  • Build and maintain a high standard of customer service that creates superior customer experiences and loyalty; coach District Managers and CSMs in a way that is inspirational, improves results and produces high levels of customer service
  • Maintain constant focus on building high performing teams through a culture of training and development for internal Team Members, aggressive acquisition of outside talent, and low turnover
  • Ensure management team values diversity and supports a fair and respectful environment for both Team Members and customers; including high performance, recognition, candid feedback, and rewards for performance exists on their team
  • Spend 5060% of the time visiting the region stores to ensure proper execution of all initiatives, consistent or better store conditions, and understanding of customer service expectations by all Team Members; visit competitors in all classes of trade to evaluate their best practices as applicable
  • Provides strategic guidance and oversight to the organization through the development and achievement of the sales and new business goals
  • Sets policy and procedure for the sales organization and ensures the implementation and enforcement of those policies and procedures through management
  • Demonstrate an eagerness to be a team player and assist in other functions as assigned by upper management
  • Monitors financial performance of the organization and deploys resources to ensure successful achievement of financial objectives; Ensures credit and collection policies are clearly communicated and enforced at levels of the organization
  • Effectively delegate and supervise multiple projects through the region, to ensure timely and quality execution
  • Develop future leaders for the organization by identifying, training and providing development opportunities for qualified teammates.

Essential Experiences Necessary for Success as a Regional Vice President

  • Speak and write English (French is a real asset); communicate effectively and build strong relationships with customers, peers and upper management
  • 10+ years multiunit management experience in a fastpaced and highly dynamic commercial retail environment and has a bachelor's degree, or equivalent qualification
  • Solid sales leadership experience within a large, nationwide organization in a related industry
  • Knowledge of commercial retail management best practices including sales, customer service, inventory management, risk reduction and Human Resources skills
  • Must have a valid driver's license and passport. Able to travel extensively in the region, with overnight stays, including training/travel (USA); Ability to work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • Proven track record of meeting sales and gross margin targets in a multiunit environment and has successful experience managing profitability; proven financial and business acumen
  • Possess welldeveloped business relationships within the industry.
  • Has strong presentation, negotiations, leadership, and communications skills, including ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedural manuals
  • Think strategically, analyze issues and options; effectively manage and facilitate change
  • Effectively delegate and supervise multiple projects throughout the Region to ensure timely and quality execution
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Hyperion; MS office and other computerbased tools
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to build and maintain solid interpersonal relationships.
