POSITION PURPOSE


This position is responsible for supervising the daily operations of conducting screening reviews within the Administrative Penalty Tribunal (APT) program by coordinating, planning, and supervising the activities of the Screening Officers team.

Ensures that screening reviews are conducted fairly, accurately, and timely in accordance with bylaws, legislation, policies and procedures.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises the daily operation of conducting screening reviews within the APT program ensuring all reviews are conducted in compliance with bylaws, legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversees the coordination and scheduling of all screening reviews ensuring they are conducted fairly, accurately, and timely.
  • Oversees all screening review documentation ensuring all records, files, data, and information is managed in accordance with legislation and corporate standards.
  • Acts as the point of escalation on any contentious, difficult, or sensitive screening reviews.
  • Responds to customer enquiries directly and/or resolves difficult or highly sensitive complaints either verbally or in writing.
  • Responds to emerging issues and assesses the impact on the APT program including providing recommendations for action to the Manager.
  • Implements service delivery changes and improvements to enhance the customer experience and ensure efficient operation of the screening function of the APT program.
  • Prepares and analyses reports, statistics, and key performance metrics for senior management and identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Assists the Manager in developing annual business/work plans, performance standards and ensures the team's work aligns with the broader strategic priorities and in developing service plans and staffing proposals.
  • Provides input into budget and business plan development, policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful completion of a College Diploma in Paralegal Studies, Paralegal Court and Tribunal Agent Program, Law Clerk or a related discipline or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a broad range of applicable legislation, bylaws, and adjudicative procedures as they relate to administrative penalties.
  • Leadership ability to coordinate multiple projects and ability to motivate staff and foster a positive team environment.
  • Supervisory and human resource management skills, knowledge of collective agreement administration and interpretation, labour relations principles and practices and relevant employment legislation.
  • Informed and active leadership to confront bias and systemic barriers and comply with or build inclusive practices in business processes, recruitment practices, team management, etc. to ensure inclusive and equitable workplace.
  • Satisfactory Police Criminal Background Check.
  • Ability to travel to offsite location, as required.
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours.
