    Position Overview

    Burgundy Diamond Mines Ltd. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Information Technology Intern with a genuine desire to work in the mining industry and take on new opportunities.

    This position will report to the SuperIntendent IT Comm & Security. As Part of the Information Technology Services team, you will work closely with the team to gain practical IT Services experience and technical expertise. The successful candidate will be exposed to roles focusing on users onboarding tasks, desktop/laptop build and deployment, users' desktop & MS-Suite supports, SharePoint file organization, AD/VPN & Multi-factor authentication, SAP ERP systems, and Mining applications.

    During your work term, we will push you to be your best by exposing you to challenging tasks and assignments and giving you the opportunity to take ownership of your work term. You will gain practical experience, develop technical skills to complement your academic learning, and gain exposure to future opportunities at our company.

    Information Technology Intern will work two (2) weeks on, two (2) weeks off rotation at the Ekati mine site (day shifts only). This is a temporary 8-month position, April 1 to December 31, 2024.

    Job Duties/Responsibilities

    • New users onboarding tasks.
    • Day to day end users' technical support
    • Desktop/laptop build and deployment Active Directory & GAL update.
    • Users' desktop & MS-Suite support.
    • AD/VPN & Multi-factor authentication
    • Server support as needed.
    • IT Inventory management
    • Ekati on-site IT support for business & mining applications.

    Education/Experience

    • A new graduate of Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
    • A new immigrant with bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology, or equivalent experience will be considered.
    • Strong computer, software, database, and analytical skills
    • Strong Microsoft suite of applications, Cloud computing and PC hardware support skills
    • Understanding of basic computer networking
    • Ability to work independently on assigned projects with minimal supervision.
    • Positive attitude along with keen sense of proactivity and prioritization
    • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • Strong safety values.
    • Experience working in the Mining Industry, Northern Canada, and an understanding of the Northern Regulatory environment is preferred.

    Additional Information

    The Company provides travel to and from the Ekati mine site out of Calgary, Yellowknife, and other northern fly points.
