Job Description:

AECOM B+P Canada is looking to hire a Design Manager to help with multi-billion dollar subway station projects. This individual must be a professional engineer or OAA or in the process of licensing with multi-disciplinary engineering knowledge.


The individual will oversee our active projects and act as Senior Engineer and Manager, leading the design and engineering efforts for various large design and construction projects.

The individual may also provide business development support, develop and maintain contracts, and technical direction to project personnel, and be involved in planning, developing and coordinating project-related activities.


Additional Responsibilities:


  • Performs various management and leadership responsibilities for the Engineering disciplines. Responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments.
  • Maintains liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside the organization.
  • Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field.
  • Works under mínimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative, with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

Qualifications:


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architectural
  • 6 of experience in the engineering design of underground and above-ground subway stations and institutional, commercial and municipal buildings projects. Requires multi-disciplinary knowledge of engineering.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • A licensed Professional Engineer (PEng) or OAA is preferred
  • Experience managing projects and people
  • Structural engineering or Architectural background and experience preferred but not mandatory
  • 15 years of experience managing projects and people
  • Oversees engineering activities for planning, design, and construction work involving multiple consultants and contractors; ensures adherence to quality, budget and schedules; and ensures work meets industry, project specific or agency standards
  • Responsible for coordination of Shop Drawing reviews and RFI responses
  • Takes the lead in tracking and recording change orders and associated team hours for cost claim submission to end Client
  • Thorough knowledge of building systems and construction detailing
  • Strong business acumen and people manager skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated strong creativity in design
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
  • Exceptional technical knowledge of building construction and the
  • Building Code
  • Ability to supervise production of a number of projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work within and lead in a team environment
  • Ability to co-ordinate with a multi-disciplinary in-house consultant team
