Your opportunity:


The Experiential Education Unit (EEU) in the Office of the Vice-Principal Academic and Dean (OVPAD), UTM, aims to enrich the undergraduate education experience by promoting and nurturing unique opportunities and approaches to learning both within and outside of the classroom.


General areas of responsibilities of the OVPAD include:

academic programs, academic HR; academic policy and planning; academic experience; academic integrity; academic appeals; experiential education; teaching and learning support; strategic leadership; divisional research and data analysis; graduate affairs; tri-campus affairs; and more.


Reporting to the Director, Experiential Education & Community Engagement, the Experiential Learning Assistant will be required to perform the following administrative duties: liaise with students, staff, and faculty on matters related to EL; providing directions and alerting staff when visitors come to the office; supporting EEU Managers with administrative tasks; monitor and respond to general inquiries received by the EEU and redirect as appropriate; maintain and update information on EEU social media platforms and website; disseminate EEU information to various stakeholders; support the data collection process related to various EL-related projects; generate, collate, and organize data for various reports; and participate in employer/student outreach activities as required.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Scheduling daytoday project activities
  • Informing senior staff of impending deadlines
  • Generating reports
  • Preparing meeting agendas
  • Writing routine documents and correspondence
  • Disseminating information
  • Collating and organizing data for various reports

Essential Qualifications:


  • Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum five years working in a postsecondary institution environment, preferably in an administrative position
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the University's academic policies and procedures; experience communicating policies to faculty, students, and staff
  • Demonstrated customer service orientation in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience coordinating meeting schedules and logístical details, including taking and distributing meeting minutes
  • Proficiency writing documents, correspondences, and generating reports
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet the demands of a fastpaced environment
  • Excellent oral and writtencommunication skills
  • Must have strong computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook), Adobe Creative Suite as well as an ability to adapt and learn new technologies
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines
