Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.


Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director of the Multiple Sclerosis Clinic the incumbent:

  • Educates patients and families regarding the MS Monitoring System Initiative.
  • Educates new Neurology Unit Clerks regarding the initiative and related processes.
  • Ensures that appropriate data collection forms and devices are distributed to patients.
  • Responds to questions from patients as they complete forms and assists patients in completing these forms as needed due to physical or cognitive impairments.
  • Ensures that physician reported information is complete and up to date. Followsup with physicians to obtain and enter missing information as needed.
  • Acts as communication link for the MS Clinic and Manitoba Health.
  • Responds to queries from regarding data collection including error checking.
  • Maintains supplies for the initiative, compiles statistical information and performs other miscellaneous duties as required.

Experience:


  • Experience working with patients in clinical or research setting required.
  • Experience educating or consenting patients required.
  • Experience working with hospital/clinical patient information system, electronic medical records required.
  • Experience working with Accuro preferred.
  • Experience with clinical research preferred.
  • Experienced with medical records review preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):


  • Bachelor's Degree required.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Medical Terminology (75% pass mark) preferred.
  • Typing/keyboarding skills wpm) preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to function independently required.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with others as needed.
  • Knowledge of neurology, particularly MS, an asset.
  • Familiarity with programming and statistical analysis an asset.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance initiatives and process improvement preferred.

Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to function effectively in a stressful environment with frequent interruptions.
This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.
