About the Opportunity:


Reporting to the Director, Public Health, Central Zone, the Operations and Administrative Site Lead is responsible for the leadership and overall coordination of assigned projects for the Nova Scotia Health Authority, Public Health.

In particular activities related to the ongoing development, documentation, communication and monitoring of operational processes.

This includes, but is not limited to, providing leadership, coordination and documentation in the areas of student placements, orientation, occupational health and safety, resource and inventory management, and reception.

The person filling the position acts as the site manager for the Dartmouth Mellor Ave Public Health Office and will assist with planning and coordination of other Public Health offices across zones as needed, under the direction of the Director PH.


The Operations and Administrative Site Lead contributes to a culture of accountability and quality by collaborating to develop quality frameworks and to identify opportunities for improvement.

Working collaboratively with managers and staff from all of the program areas in PH, the Operations and Administrative Site Lead is responsible for the development of comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures in accordance with the Department of Health and Wellness Protocols, Accreditation Canada Standards and NSHA Policies.

Under the direction of the Director and the PH Leadership Team, the Operations and Administrative Site Lead will conduct financial and operational analyses, and recommend strategies aimed at optimal use of financial and human resources.


The Operations and Administrative Site Lead participates as a member of relevant internal and external committees and links with provincial colleagues and Public Health staff across the province to ensure that Standard Operating Procedures contribute to consistent, efficient and quality programming and services.


Essential components of this position include:
specialized and advanced Public Health competence, critical thinking, innovation, and human and fiscal resource management.


About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Baccalaureate degree in the health field (health sciences, nursing, public health, health administration, community health, health promotion, nutrition), business or commerce
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Health Services Administration or other preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
  • Minimum five years of experience in a health care setting, with progressive responsibilities to supervisory level.
  • Demonstrated project leader experience, having planned and managed significant projects within the health field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multiple projects with competing timelines and accountabilities.
  • Experience in a public health setting with demonstrated competency in all areas of Core Competencies for Public Health including: attitudes and values; public health sciences; assessment and analysis; policy and program planning; implementation and evaluation; partnerships, collaboration and advocacy; diversity and inclusiveness; communication; and leadership (PHAC).
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills, excellent communication and ability to present complex issues with clarity and credibility.
  • Competence in the analysis of financial data, operation systems and processes.
  • Must be proactive, problem solution focused, analytical and innovative.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Organizational, analytical, problemsolving and decisionmaking abilities.
