Greenfirst is looking for a Supervisor Mechanical to provide planning and direction to the Kapuskasing Newsmill, optimizing the process in providing site and mechanical maintenance services in the most cost-effective manner to support the manufacture of pulp and newsmill and maintain alignment of the Site Services group with the principles and objectives defined on the Results Management Framework.

Responsibilities :
• Promote and provide a safe workplace, seek improvements, support Health & Safety Program.
• Lead a motivated, efficient, and engaged mechanical maintenance team of direct reports and provide career development opportunities.
• Coach and mentor employees to ensure maximum performance.
• Support compliance with collective agreement and sound union/management/employee relations.
• Maintain a communications program to keep your team informed regarding newsmill and department priorities
• Report to Mechanical Superintendent.
• Support and maintain an effective predictive and preventative mechanical maintenance program.
• Plan and record maintenance activities by using the site maintenance management system.
• Monitor the spare part inventories and keep equipment files up to date.
• Report on the status of mechanical work at the weekly priority meeting.
• Provide training recommendations to the Mechanical Superintendent.
• Maintain and effectively keep all mechanical equipment in a safe operating condition.
• Report and explain deviations from planned activities.
• Recommend changes/improvements to the maintenance management system and standards to the Mechanical Superintendent.
• Perform weekend duty as required.
Requirements :
• Education: College diploma or equivalent; Mechanical Engineering an asset.
• Experience: 7 years in a related field or 3 years with a Mechanical Engineering Degree is preferred.
• Bilingual: An asset
