The Luther Special Care Home is affiliated with the Saskatoon Health Region and has 129 beds which are used to provide level 3 & 4 care.

This includes a secure 49-bed Special Needs Unit for residents with cognitive impairment.


The Position:

LutherCare has an immediate opportunity in the Luther Special Care Home for a Casual Cook. The Cook will prepare appropriate meals and nourishment for residents following specific guidelines and safe food and sanitation codes.

The Cook will assist with production of food and beverages to residents, staff and family and provides and maintains a clean, safe working environment.

Wage as per SAHO/SEIU collective agreement.


Education:


  • Grade 12 preferred

Qualifications:


  • Journeyperson Cook Certificate
  • Food Safe Certificate
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Is committed to a residentfirst culture
  • Knowledge of the principles of food service including the preparation and portioning of food
  • Knowledge of foodservice equipment and proper use of the same
  • Follow standardized recipes, adjust recipes, weigh and/or measure ingredients accurately
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand English fluently
  • Ability to work independently
or as a team
