Currently, the offer is a three-program stream: Living Streets, Seniors on The Move (SOTM), and The Bicycle Valet.

Our Programs:


  • Living Streets _promotes walking to enrich and experience public space, creating community ties, as a feasible way of transportation, and a catalyst for physical and mental health. It is a program that identifies opportunities for education and public engagement in the pedestrian realm.
  • The Bicycle Valet _provides free and secure bicycle/active transportation parking across Metro Vancouver.
  • Seniors on the Move _is a seniorsled, systemscharge project that aims to increase transportation options for older adults and others who do not drive, which BEST comanages with United Way B.C.
BEST has been partnering with Translink providing support in managing and promoting Translink's sustainable transportation initiatives. Translink is the organization's largest stakeholders.

This position is available as part of the Canada Summer Jobs program and is offered for a short-term employment period.

The remuneration will be in accordance with the program's guidelines.


Job Summary:

This position, funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program, is specifically designed for recent graduates or graduating students.

As a Program Assistant Manager and Event Coordinator for Seniors on the Move (SOTM), you will play a vital role in supporting BEST's SOTM project by coordinating program activities and analyzing data to drive strategic decision-making.

This opportunity is ideal for a motivated individual with a passion for program management, communications, data analysis, transportation, seniors' issues, and community engagement.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Program Coordination:_
  • Assist in implementing the communications strategy for ongoing and future projects.
  • Refine the target audience and develop targeted messaging for a senior audience online.
  • Develop messaging and talking points highlighting transportation as a social determinant of health.
  • Identify key stakeholders in seniors' transportation across British Columbia (BC).
  • Support marketing and screening events of seniors' transportation documentary.
  • Implement a media strategy, including identifying relevant campaigns across BC.
  • Regularly update the media contact list.
  • Update the SOTM online calendar.
  • Write media advisories for screening and promotional events.
  • Identify other seniors' transportation campaigns across BC and explore opportunities for collaboration.
  • Help implement active transportation and driver cessation campaigns.
  • Identify and promote events/speaking opportunities to raise awareness of alternatives to driving.
  • Collaborate with seniorserving and transportation agency partners to develop key messaging and promotional materials for transportation workshops.
  • Assist in launching and developing a new website and quarterly newsletter.
  • Develop and implement a social media calendar using existing BEST channels.
  • Assist the evaluator in distributing and collecting evaluation tools, including surveys and petitions.
  • Data Analysis:_
  • Support the System Integration Specialist (SIT) and the SOTM Project Coordinator in using user experience and systems approach methods for data transcription, mapping, and qualitative data analysis.
  • Work closely with the SIT to facilitate the launch, organization, collection, and documentation of qualitative data using a communitybased participatory approach.
  • Assist the SIT in summarizing, analyzing, and synthesizing qualitative data using systems engineering, customer affinity processes, or content analyses of naturalistic inquiry.
  • Aid in ethnographic work with community stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of tables and graphics that visualize and map resources, stakeholders, interfaces, barriers, levels, and solutions.
  • Support stakeholders through multiple reviews and revisions of data analysis and findings.
  • Provide assistance in developing reports and communications, including editing drafts and creating tables and diagrams with supervisory review.
