The Inbound Transportation Analyst is responsible to ensure inbound transportation operations support corporate strategy while optimizing service levels and cost effectiveness.

Your Role:


  • Oversee and assist in the coordination and scheduling of all inbound cargo to ensure the expected flow for all Canadian banners.
  • Ensure transportation costs are within expected levels and aligned to budget.
  • Process vendor violation reports from other areas of the business. Generate fines for valid violations.
  • Collaborate with vendors and Category Managers to improve vendor compliance.
  • Maintain the Vendor Compliance Manual.
  • Review carrier and consolidator performance. Analyze performance metrics.
  • Manage and communicate carrier rate changes. Collaborate on carrier contract negotiations
  • Provide benchmarks both within and outside our network to improve NWC's logistics network.
  • Work with logistics partners to achieve increased performance.
  • Research and review opportunities to improve the logistics networks.

Desired Skills & Experience:


  • Postsecondary education, with a preference for those with a major in Supply Chain and Logistics.
  • 3 years industry experience as a logistician.
  • Previous education or experience in using transportation modeling tools.
  • Ability to monitor Key Performance Metrics and make business adjustments to align with expectations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Proven organizational, planning and prioritizing skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, tasks and assignments.
  • Effective interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Must be detail conscious while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and a demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information.
  • High degree of curiosity, discovery, and willingness to work through complex scenarios with multiple technical systems is required.
  • An understanding of TNWC transportation network and the variety of transportation modes used would be an asset.
