Assistant Night Manager - Toronto, Canada - The Hazelton Hotel

Primary Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Night Manager / Front Office Manager.
- Responsible for the overall operation of the night audit and management of the Hotel in the absence of the Night Manager
- Assist in Front Desk duties, including checkin and checkout of guests.
- Prepare the daily Night Audit proceedings and system backups.
- Balance all transactions including credit card transactions and bring any discrepancies to the attention of the Director of Finance.
- Thorough knowledge in Emergency and Front Office procedures.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of guests and staff during overnight period.
- Liaise with Housekeeping, Front Office, Concierge etc. to ensure smooth arrival and departure experiences.
- Ensures that all Front Office policies and procedures are adhered
- Responsible for the nightly end of day reporting is complete; ensuring accuracy in balancing accounts
- Perform all necessary reconciliations and audit functions for the Reception/Front Office in order to complete the day's business
- Handle with any guest requests and complaints in a polite and efficient manner.
- Strong and effective communication with all other departments.
- Conduct night colleague performance evaluations on a timely basis, including corrective action and coaching
- Adheres to and promotes the Company's health and safety policies to ensure a safe work environment and knowledgeable all safety and emergency procedures
- In the absence of the Night Manager, complete all other duties as assigned by the Director of Front Office and Director of Finance that relate to the overall operation of the Hotel overnight
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years' previous supervisory experience in Front Office operations
- Experience as Assistant Night Manager beneficial
- Proven ability to guide and coach team members
- An operational knowledge and proficiency in Property Management System (Micros-Fidelio) and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent leadership, written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong guest service orientation and training skills background required.
- Knowledge of Micros Opera, Micros POS an advantage.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft XP required.
- Excellent written and communication skills in English second language an asset.
- Professional appearance and attitude.
- Highly organized, resultsoriented with the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure.
- Degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management is an asset
- Flexible with hours, days off, additional assignments and duties.
- Must work well under strict timelines.
