COVID-19 Immunity Task Force

(CITF), which works to understand COVID-19 immunity to inform Canadian policymakers and enable evidence-based decisions. The Task Force Secretariat, which is housed within McGill University's

School of Population and Global Health

, oversees administration of sponsored studies and conducts scientific research that aims to:

  • Determine the extent of SARS-CoV-2 infection and vaccination in the general Canadian population as well as in specific communities and priority populations;
  • Understand the nature of immunity arising from SARS-CoV2 infection;
  • Develop improved antibody testing methods;
  • Monitor the effectiveness and safety of vaccines as they are rolled out across Canada and in specific subgroups of the population such as children;
  • Determine the need for, and optimal timing of, booster shots;
  • Develop models of population immunity models to guide our national public health efforts as the pandemic continues to evolve; and
  • Explore crosscutting themes.


CITF research assistants work in partnership with a vibrant team of investigators, public health practitioners, clinicians, research staff, and software developers, all dedicated to conducting research and developing informatics tools that aim to improve population health.


Job Description:

The CITF is hiring one full-time research assistant to work with Dr. Alton Russell, who leads the

Data-Driven Decision Modeling (D3Mod) lab

  • Conduct data analysis using COVID19 health information data under the direction of senior staff;
  • Assist with the management and analysis of data held in the CITF databank and other large databases;
  • Draft and submit relevant documents for ethical approval of relevant projects;
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports for granting agencies, and manuscripts for publication;
  • Contribute to presentations for scientific meetings, seminars, workshops for various public and academic audiences.
Education & Experience

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

Research experience analyzing health datasets using R or a similar programing language is an asset.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, analytic skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a team are essential.

Must have strong organizational and priority setting skills, and be able to work autonomously in a complex, changing, deadline-oriented environment.

Demonstrated leadership potential and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities without supervision is necessary. Fluency in French is an asset.

Salary commensurate with experience.

Potential for a contract extension beyond March 31, 2024 pending strong employee performance and availability of funds.
