We arecurrently seeking a Freight Clerk to join our team. The FreightClerk will play a pivotal role in our logistics operations,overseeing the efficient movement of inbound and outboundshipments. Utilizing specialized software, the Freight Clerkconducts freight shopping, ensuring accurate rates andcollaborating closely with warehouse teams to address issues andanalyze carrier performance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Your mainresponsibility will to be freight shopping all inbound and outbound freight shipment via our preferred carrier. You will use afreight shopping software to provide rates.
• You will be expected to verify accurate rates for allshipments for either incoming or outgoing shipments.
• You will work closely with local warehouse teams toensure any problems, damages , missed appointments or anomalies arecorrected. This will involve analyzing data using power BI toreport how carriers perform.
• Arranging for theshipping and delivery of materials is also a fundamental element ofthe role. This will involve understanding the best shipping methodsfor materials, knowledge of shipping procedures, routes andrate.
• You are also responsible for calculatingcharges, storage space and demurrage charges.

Qualification Requirements:

• Jobs inFreight Forwarding, usually require good GCSE/A-Level results,especially in subjects such as Maths andEnglish.(preferred)
• A general understanding of how freightcompanies rate shipments, accessorial charges and FSC (fuelsurcharges) is an asset.
• As a Freight Clerk, you would need to be a goodcommunicator, in particular, experience in dealing with branch& divisional staff and knowledge and understanding of customerservice would be an advantage.
• Excellentclerical skills are required as being able to manage files andrecords as well as general office skills is vital to thisrole. In particular, the role of Freight Clerk requires a goodsound understanding of mathematics.
• Dependingupon the role and level of responsibility, you may also be requiredto have a sound understanding of business and management principlesinvolved in strategic planning, HR, managing people andleadership.
• The post holder must be familiarwith computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel,etc.
