Mississauga office is looking to fill an
Environmental Field Technician position in our growing Canadian Operations.
Responsibilities:
- Collection of groundwater and surface water samples for environmental monitoring programs
- Working with and providing support to other members of the group in assisting with other field, laboratory, and office activities as required
- Completing clear, neat, and accurate field notes
- Oversight of drilling investigations involving geotechnical and environmental components including coordination and review of utility locates and utility drawings
- Preparation of data tables, stratigraphic logs, scopes of work, and health and safety plans
- Adherence to GHD and client's safety requirement including appropriate PPE
- Liaise with client representatives and/or site contacts or private residents, as required
- Travel requirements (generally within Southern Ontario) however works may include locations in Northern and Eastern Ontario and the United States. Travel will require overnight stays for some projects. Estimated 90% of time outside the office in the field.
Skills and Qualifications:
- College Diploma in an Earth Science, Environmental, or Civil Engineering Technology/Technician program or other relevant field
- Working knowledge of hydrogeology field testing and sampling techniques
- Valid First Aid/AED Training certification considered an asset
- Competence in operation of 4wheel off road vehicles and use of a trailer to transport off road vehicles to site locations considered an asset
- Must own a reliable vehicle and hold a valid driver's license
- Adaptable and analytical
- Ability to exercise sound professional judgment
- Selfmotivated and able to manage multiple tasks
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Great teammate, cooperate with other staff
- Ability to meet challenging deadlines; and
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with clear well written notes
