The Planning and Demographics department working on behalf of the Board of Education of School District 36 Surrey (SD36) is seeking a skilled Manager Data and Analytics to assist with the data analytics and process improvement projects as it pertains to enrolment projections.


The Manager Data and Analytics will be responsible for assisting in the planning, implementation and completion of major data and analytics projects.

The work involves assisting the Associate Director with process automation, GIS mapping, Power BI modelling and dashboard design, survey design and analysis, and maintaining current and historical enrolment and projections databases.


The Manager Data and Analytics will prepare response templates to all City of Surrey and the City of White Rock Permit Applications.

The incumbent will have prior experience with writing qualitative and quantitative reports and recommendations based on data and facts.


Reporting to the Associate Director, the Manager Data and Analytics will also direct the Senior Research Analyst in all aspects of project execution.

This involves interfacing with district department managers, consultants, and the Cities of Surrey and White Rock.

The incumbent should be able to execute tasks under limited direct supervision and manages their time to work on several projects simultaneously.

Specific Responsibilities

Assists the Associate Director with the management of project specific tasks, correspondence with departments, and administration.

Maintain historical, current, and projected numbers related to student enrolment, and operating capacities across all elementary and secondary schools.

Manage the historical and current records for the District's portable inventory. Make recommendations to Executive for portable needs based on capacity and projected enrolment on a school-by-school basis.

Improve data reporting processes as well as implementing new structures that create efficiencies and synergies between other departments.


Respond to requests for data verification and validation from Baragar Systems including catchment boundary requests, postal code changes, and student program changes.


Administer the annual Space Use Survey and provide analysis and reporting on the results to improve space utilization in schools.


Update and maintain accurate student enrolment charts in the Long-Range Facilities Plan to ensure consistency and accuracy with yearly capital projections to the Ministry.


Support the Associate Director in building out the next generation of student enrolment projection models and dashboards as well as monthly and yearly reporting.


Write and maintain data reporting guidelines, documentation related to system and business process improvements, and provide training materials to end users.


Take the lead in migrating data from Local Shared Folder to OneDrive and ensure access controls, cyber security and privacy of information is adhered to using district standards.

Respond to special data requests from internal departments and/or external organizations.
