Position Overview:


Reporting to the Associate Director, Major Gifts and Communications, the Marketing and Communications Officer works to provide the organization and its stakeholders with clear and compelling messages.


Your Impact:


This position is responsible for executing the club's overall marketing and communications plan which includes, but is not limited to, the Club's website and social media platforms, as well as writing, editing and design support throughout the organization while maintaining brand standards.


Communications & Reporting
Assist in developing, planning, implementing, and reporting on the organizational marketing and communications program.

  • Execute marketing and external and internal communication campaigns working collaboratively with the Advancement team, BGCO staff and volunteers.
  • Produce reports on social media, website and other online fundraising and engagement strategies.
  • Monitor all communications and marketing activities and recommend strategies for improvement and growth.
  • Establish the brand standards for the organization and ensure that they are being used according to policies.
  • Monitor site traffic and sources to optimize web presence and Search Engine Optimization habits
  • Work with Senior Leadership Team, Senior Managers and Clubhouse Managers to ensure information from all locations is current and accurate on website.
  • Provide writing and editing support and manage the production (working with outside suppliers as necessary) communications including enewsletters, brochures, website information, annual reports, and social media.

Content Creation & Storytelling
Help to raise the profile and digital community engagement of the BGCO.

  • Highlight through storytelling and content creation the programs, daytoday club operations, members and staff stories, and strategic priorities of the Club.
  • Create short videos and other ways of showcasing BGCO's mission.
  • Arrange photography and images for special projects.
  • Write copy and design special projects and reports.

Media, Marketing, and Community Profile:


  • Assist in preparing staff, volunteers, and members for participation at speaking engagements and media events.
  • Manage the organization's media relations including news and press releases, mediarelated events, crisis management plan.
  • Provide marketing and communication support to events at the BGCO, as well as community events that benefit the Club.
  • Provide support in writing, material development and media relations for marketing, alumni and fundraising initiatives and campaigns

What We Are Looking For:


  • Postsecondary education in marketing, communications, journalism or related field. Related work experience may also be considered in lieu of education.
  • Corporate or nonprofit communications experience essential
  • Minimum of two years of related job experience, preferably in a nonprofit role
  • Valid driver's license and access to own vehicle
  • Current Police Record Check

YOUR SKILLS

  • Experience in website development.
  • Experience with successful social media communication.
  • Outstanding skills in writing, editing, photography and desktop publishing (design).

  • Highly innovative and creative, demonstrates a high level of attention to detail while also looking at the big picture.
  • An energetic member of the team who can balance the responsibilities of an event and daily requests from community groups and individuals.
  • Strong team player who works collaboratively with many different stakeholders.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills, and experience serving diverse communities.
  • Multilingualism also considered an asset (French, Arabic, Mandarin or Somali)
