Job Summary:


The Project Controls Manager assumes a leadership role by providing guidance to project controls staff and/or other managers and is responsible for overseeing and managing project controls activities and resources to ensure project cost and schedule is getting tracked accurately and in a timely fashion until completion of project, in order to meet and/or exceed client expectations.


Essential Responsibilities:


  • Develops thorough understanding of the contract provisions, scope of work, subcontract and/or selfperform plan, and the estimate to establish proper baseline control budget, cost, production and schedule management for the assigned projects or management of the team to perform the functions.
  • Provides technical guidance to employees. Provides clear direction to team members and distributes workload to capitalize on individual and group strengths while ensuring balanced exposure to work experience and development opportunities.
  • Manages performance of employees through goal setting, ongoing assessment and coaching.
  • Maintains support and tracks implementation of progress reports and schedules from bidding phase to closeout.
  • Leads the preparation of project schedules with input from client, engineering, procurement and construction as well as the developing, preparing and collecting schedule and cost data for project reports.
  • Ensure standardization and consistency where possible while encouraging and implementing best practices via innovation and collaboration.

Qualifications:


  • Eight plus years of related work experience with three to five of those years in a supervisory role
  • Experience with engineering and constructionbased cost and scheduling systems (Productivity, performance measurement, progress tracking, change management, etc.)
  • Experience using platforms to manage schedule, production and cost such as Microsoft Project or Primavera (P6), Excel, QuickBase, JD Edwards & GIS.
  • Understanding of construction documents and the ability to ensure that they are complete, protect the owner's interest, clearly define expectations and provide incentive to perform.
  • Understand method of bidding, purchasing, negotiating, contracting, cash flow, expediting, receiving and transporting
  • Ability to plan and manage to a project schedule.
  • Knowledge of construction costs and budgets.
  • A track record of building successful teams, effectively motivating people and maintaining effective relationships with clients, owners and stakeholders.
