Job Description Summary:


The Quality Assurance Technician (12 month Contract) is responsible for the implementation and execution of all actions required to maintain and enhance the quality programs (Environmental Monitoring Program, Cleaning and Sanitation Effectiveness, Gluten Free, SPC, Allergen segregation, Gluten Free, Organic, etc.) throughout the manufacturing plant. This role is responsible for ensuring that products are within specification, and that our processes are in compliance with our Food Safety and Quality programs.

Roles & Responsibilities:


  • Conduct verifications of food safety and regulatory compliance programs to ensure Quality Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in all departments are being followed
  • Perform analytical, microbiological and sensory testing and analysis of inprocess and finished product samples according to approved standard operating procedures. Record and evaluate test data and notify the Quality Supervisor of any deviations from the product specifications.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and determine the necessary corrective action.
  • Perform all inhouse test procedures, cleaning, routine maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of lab test equipment.
  • Collects environmental, sanitation effectiveness, and allergen swabs; including sample collection, documentation and packaging for laboratory analysis.
  • Evaluates the Environmental Monitoring Program and Sanitation Effectiveness Program results:
  • Assist in the investigation of customer complaints, quality incidents and deviations to standard.
  • Perform administrative duties such as maintain records, forms and logs including computer databases, and performing regular inventory checks and providing the Quality supervisor with a list of required supplies.
  • Performs GMP and Internal Inspections of the facility, communicates results and followsup completion of corrective actions.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Skills, Experience and Education:


  • A degree and/or diploma in a Sciences Program is preferred.
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques, chemistry, microbiology, math and basic computer skills.
  • 23 years in a quality function within the Food & Beverage industry is an asset
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, WHMIS, sanitation principles and safe handling of chemicals.
  • Must be able to multitask and work well under stressful situations.
  • Possess strong analytical, organizational and judgement skills.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work well as part of a team.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills, along with supporting verbal and written communication skills.
