We are seeking a qualified Powerline Maintainer for the Espanola Operations Centre.

Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, the position is responsible for all facets of a utility distribution system including overhead, underground, metering, and working with voltages up to and including 44kV.


The
Powerline Maintainer will be primarily responsible to:


  • Promote overall efficient, effective, and safe deployment of services and equipment to ensure and maintain operations;
  • Install, construct, maintain, repair, and replace electrical components and related equipment on high voltage and low voltage systems;
  • Provide technical guidance to contractors in regard to requirements for electrical installations;
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, guidelines, procedures, regulations, and standards;
  • Conduct a variety of activities related to customer service in a positive and professional manner;
  • Coordinate and interact with external agencies and authorities to organize and carry out work activities; and
  • Obtain and retain all required licenses, and certificates required for this position.

Qualifications:


  • Journeyman Power Lineman Certification licensed to work in Ontario;
  • Completion of a postsecondary Powerline Technician program or equivalent preferred;
  • Sound working knowledge of electrical systems and related components;
  • Must hold and maintain a valid DZ Ontario driver's license;
  • Ability to work independently and take direction;
  • Ability to safely operate mechanical and electronic equipment;
  • Good oral and written communications skills to maintain logs, complete reports, and deliver training;
  • Strong knowledge of related legislation, codes, standards, and practices including IHSA Electrical and Utility Safety Rules and Safe Practice guides;
  • Ability to operate computerized systems and a working knowledge of MS Office suite; and
  • Ability to respond in a reasonable time to after hour and emergency callouts.
