Hudbay's operating portfolio includes the Constancia mine in Cusco (Peru), the Snow Lake operations in Manitoba (Canada) and the Copper Mountain mine in British Columbia (Canada).

Copper is the primary metal produced by the company, which is complemented by meaningful gold production.

Purpose of Role:

A mining business requires the support of investors, analysts and various other stakeholders.

This role helps Hudbay achieve its mission by satisfying these stakeholders, through the consolidation of business unit results that are used for in the timely and accurate preparation of external financial reports.


Role Accountabilities:


  • Execute the first review and consolidation of business unit financial reporting
  • Develop global accounting policies to ensure that financial statements are prepared in accordance with IFRS.
  • Supports growth initiatives and is a business partner in strategy and operations through timely delivery of critical financial and accounting information for informed decisionmaking.
  • Design and resource the operation of internal controls over financial reporting applicable to the financial reporting and disclosure function and information systems concerning financial reporting.
  • Accountable for accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and MD&A
  • Develops and mentors junior team members to highlight their strengths and identify opportunities for learning and growth.
  • Reviewer of consolidated revenue analysis for oversight review and MD&A preparation purposes

Experience and Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a professional area (i.e. Accounting or Finance).
  • CPA designation
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in accounting and/or finance and/or internal audit, experience with the creation of auditable working papers in a corporate office environment.
  • Previous experience in the mining industry
  • Prior experience in the execution of the SOX program is an asset.
  • Fluency in Spanish is an asset.
  • Prior experience with multinational, multilocation companies with a decentralized management structure preferred.
  • Must have experience working with SAP or another major ERP system

Knowledge and Skills:


  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and nonverbal).
  • Detailoriented to create and review accurate and complete working papers and external financial reports.
  • Ability to think critically and showcase problem solving skills when faced with challenges.
  • Confident liaising with other groups and various levels of management to deliver information to both financial and nonfinancial teams.
  • Demonstrates the ability to take ownership of issues and tasks through to resolution.
  • Innovative; wants to change how we have done things in the past and believes in continuous improvement.

Travel:

Limited travel required. Occasional site visits and conference attendance, as needed.


Working Arrangements:


Role is eligible flexible work arrangements, allowing you to balance 50% of your time in the office with 50% time working remotely.
