Purpose of Job:

The Quality Assurance Technician Level 1 is responsible for maintaining quality-assurance processes, inspecting products, recording measurements and communicating findings.


Principal Accountabilities:


  • Measure machined parts on the CMM
  • Complete Incoming Inspections for supplied parts and document appropriately
  • Measure machined parts and Assemblies for FAI inspections and as otherwise required
  • Calibrate, fix and maintain gauges for inspection equipment and relevant documentation
  • Verify product conforms to customer requirements and assist in problem solving issues
  • Complete Quality Audits as required
  • Assist in problem solving CMM operational issues / Update descriptions and photos as required
  • Ensure CMM weekly calibrations are complete and documented
  • Create Narratives for Supplier Issues as required
  • Basic understanding of Solidworks and able to retrieve dimensions from the model
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Health and Safety Responsibilities:


  • All required PPE while in plant.
  • Work safe & ergonomically by following JH&S policies.
  • Report any unsafe acts, conditions or accidents across the plant.
  • Report accidents, near misses, injuries, or illnesses immediately to your supervisor.
  • Be alert for hazards.
  • Cooperate with others on matters relating to occupational safety and health

Knowledge, Skills and Education:


  • High school diploma or equivalent / relevant experience.
  • Manufacturing environment experience an asset, preferably in CNC Machining Setting
  • CMM and gauges operation.
  • Ability to manually measure product by setting up and using a variety of measuring equipment including but not limited to bore gauges, callipers, dial indicators, height gauge, etc.
  • Experience using SolidWorks or other CAD software
  • Knowledge of general machining practices.
  • Ability to multitask, selfstarter, independent worker.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong learning desire & aptitude.
  • Ability to excel in a fastpaced environment with strict deadlines.
