Supervisor, Intermodal Operations - Vaughan, Canada - Canadian Pacific

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
As the Supervisor Operations you will plan, coordinate direct and control all outside operations within the Intermodal terminal ensuring trains are received, loaded and/or unloaded in accordance with the policies, guidelines and established plans and priorities while meeting on-time performance and minimizing cost.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Communicate and interact regularly with crossfunctional teams to maintain the service commitments of Intermodal traffic
- Coordinate all Lift, Hostler, T&E and Mechanical movements within the yard to deliver to key performance indicators
- Ensure container availability/placement in accordance with IMS Service Standards
- Prioritize outbound loading for Domestic and International traffic in compliance with AAR securement processes
- Direct yard processes to safely meet train schedules, desired foot/feu targets, customer, dispatch, Field Operations and Mechanical and Engineering needs
- Ensure Perishable Protected Service (PPS) containers are inspected at prescribed intervals and service providers engaged for repairs and serving
- Ensure truck dwell, asset utilization and key metrics are met including inventory management for containers and railcars in OASIS/TYES
- Resolve noncompliance crew issues and/or opportunities for process improvement, or escalate to manager as appropriate
- Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and effectiveness of the operation
- Accountable for Inventory management and safe execution of all terminal plans set forth.
- Work directly with employees and/or contractors to provide guidance and support to bring about the vision of an empowered and engaged workforce
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a High School diploma or GED
- Previous railroad experience would be considered an asset
- Ability to drill down, understand root cause and resolve complex issues
- High proficiency in OASIS, TMS, MS Office Outlook, Word, and basic Excel
- Understanding of applicable Collective Agreement
- Problemsolving capability
- High level communication skills
- Ability to embrace constructive criticism
- Willing to be available as required on a 7x24 basis.

Management Conductor Program:
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC.
