The Hygate on Lexington opened in October of 2021, and has since become Waterloo's premiere retirement residence. We are looking for an experienced General Manager to lead Team Hygate.

We have a fantastic team to lead and an incredible group of Residents waiting for you.


Operational departments at Hygate include:


  • Administrative team, including onsite bookkeeper and 12hr per day Concierge
  • Onsite Sales and Marketing team
  • Food & Beverage team, providing 3 meals per day, fully cooked inhouse, and servicing three major dining areas (all of which are fully licensed for alcohol sales), as well as providing additional catering services.
  • 247 Nursing staff, providing emergency response to the entire building, as well as Assisted Living and Respite care
  • Activities Department overseeing all events and activities inside and outside the building utilizing fantastic amenities such as a full gymnasium, theatre, fitness room, bistro, and more.
  • Maintenance Department, including onsite housekeeping and laundry

The General Manager of Hygate will be someone who:

  • has strong experience in a GM role in the retirement living industry, with a strong awareness of compliance, potential risk areas and financial management.
- understands the changing needs and wants of the modern senior
- is willing to think outside the box and entertain ideas or solutions that are atypical, in order to set the Hygate apart from the competition.
- is a leader who fiercely manages the company culture, while allowing each individual to bring their uniqueness into the mix.
- is accustomed to dealing with all kinds of people - residents, family members, staff, contractors, Public Health/RHRA officials, and more - in a professional and courteous manner.
- is ready to "get their hands dirty" and step in to lend a hand wherever is needed
