Brookfield Renewable is looking for a resourceful and resilient Generation Planner who enjoys multitasking in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, based out of our Gatineau, QC office.

Reporting to the Manager, Generation Planning, the incumbent will be responsible to establish short and mid-term production plans, evaluate the marginal value of water and elaborate strategies to use available water to maximize the value of the hydroelectric generation.


Responsibilities:

Evaluate generation scenarios and resulting effects on flows and reservoir levels;
Track hydrological conditions to optimize and release blocks of committed generation;
Evaluate opportunity to use reservoirs flexibility to increase the value of generation;
Build and support planning, forecasting and optimization models;
Forecast expected generation based on hydrology and outages; Calculate the marginal value of water;
Evaluate and propose mitigation measure for existing or proposed constraints.
Effectively communicate with different functional groups;
Conduct knowledge management activities including presentations and appropriate documentation.

Technical Competencies

Knowledge of hydroelectric system modeling and/or operations.
Knowledge of physical factors when forecasting hydro generation;
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools;
Advanced knowledge on programming will be preferred.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably civil with concentration in hydrology;
3 years of relevant experience preferably in the hydro power industry;
Knowledge of commodity markets (particularly electric power) is an asset;
English is essential; bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
Willingness to travel occasionally as needed.


Pay:
$26.41-$55.78 per hour
