Description

Under the general supervision of the Superintendent of Vehicle Servicing, the Supervisor Vehicle Servicing is responsible for the supervision of vehicle servicing operations performed on afternoons, nights and weekend shifts at Fort Rouge Garage, Brandon Garage, and North Garage.

Each Supervisors is responsible for a complement of approximately 25 Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) employees including Bus Servicer In-Charges, Farebox/Bus Servicers and Maintenance Workers.


As the Supervisor Vehicle Servicing you will:

  • Supervise, coach, mentor and manage employees' attendance and performance
  • Conduct investigations into workplace incidents
  • Prioritize work flows and organize, plan and manage vehicle servicing assignments to ensure availability of sufficient serviceable vehicles to meet peak operational dispatch requirements
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and work procedures for safe operations
  • Report and update MMIS
  • Maintain relationships with other internal and external customers

Your education and qualifications include:


  • Industrial Supervision certificate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 18 months' related experience in a lead hand/supervisory role.
  • Previous experience working in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Previous experience in daily bus servicing operations is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions and recommendations. This includes prioritizing workflows effectively, ensuring all daily staffing, operational, and emergency situations are handled appropriately.
  • Must have the ability to work with a minimum of direct supervision.
  • Must be able to deal effectively with stressful conditions, while maintaining a professional conduct.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Experience working with MS Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of Maintenance Management Information System (MMIS) is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, in accordance with the Respectful Workplace policy.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with multiple issues concurrently in an effective manner and make sound decisions and recommendations.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of safety policies and practices.

Conditions of employment:


  • The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
  • Must possess a valid Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License and be able to obtain Air Brake Endorsement.
  • Must be physically capable of performing the routine manual labour components of the position, which may include but are not limited to: heavy lifting (up to 100lbs), maneuvering within or around large equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, noise, dust, diesel exhaust fumes and chemical agents used in the mechanical field.
  • Must be willing to work afternoons, nights, and weekend shifts.
